NOTES -RARE IN AN ALMOST TOTALLY WHITE SPECIMEN. In North Africa, the fennec fox were, and are still commonly trapped; for exhibition or sale to tourists. Expansion of permanent, human settlements in southern Morocco caused its disappearance in these areas and restricted it to marginal areas. The fur is prized by indigenous people of North Africa leading further to their possible decline. This animal was bred in a zoological breeding program and is an older specimen. It passed away of natural causes. It was known for its very white color; possibly in part due to age. This fox is protected in Morocco and Western Sahara, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt, where it has been documented in several protected areas.
