1.26 ct. "Padaparadscha - Pink", Spinel, Rare, Luc Yen, Vietnam, Internally Flawless, Color Change
Gem Type - Luc Yen Spinel Mined in the highly dangerous land-mine infested area known formerly as "The Killing Fields". This gem is rare on virtually every factor. Origin, Internally Flawless clarity, Color Change to both sides of the "padparascha," water lily color range, Mind-Blowing, light dispersion a blinding, primary, rainbow colors begin sparkling/flashing outdoors (like, or exceeding the finest diamonds in my opinion. We can't photograph this nor video it properly outdoors in full sun because it blinds the lens. The ultimate engagement gem! I can't help but be excited over what my rare Luc Yen rough stones produced and this was the clear winner along with a 1 carat royal blue spinel, some ice pink and red also came out of the very expensive parcel of rough.
Cut - Round, Ultra Precision, TOP Hand-Faceted In USA by a master gem cutter.
Size - 1.26 carat This is the perfect engagement gem. It will stand on its own but the addition of D-Flawless diamond accents would take it over the top.
Color - Padparadscha Pink w/ Orange Flash. Rare Color Shift to orangish-pink and both color shifts fit within Padparadscha range, which is just uncanny and something I have never encountered prior. See Photos for the color shift which is distinct but both colors fall within the scale of acceptable Padparadscha colors. IThe color of a beautiful pink lotus in full bloom with orange pistols and inner color which used to be reserved and only allowed to be worn by Royalty in Asia when it appeared in a sapphire it was law to deliver such a gemstone to the Royal household or face dire consequences. It is the rarest color when found in sapphire and also very rare in spinel, as well. Pink alone, does not mean Padparadscha; the orange flash, or orangish-pink color must be available for the rarity to be considered this high. A pink spinel is lovely but not Padpartadscha color regardless of what some dealers think. It is untrue that any lighter brighter pink gem is padparadscha color. This spinel is in my opinion more beautiful than the finest padparadscha sapphire and is hard enough for daily use like sapphire. Some labs will only notate the color in sapphire out of habit and original stone usage of the color identification. But it is used in other gems that are identical in the Padparadscha color range. Most of the time the gem will be lotus color. The shift is under specific light and direct sun position coming through windows and will only be seen under those conditions. It stays the gorgeous orangish pink 90% of the time indoors and out and even candlelight accents its rare beauty.
Care - The gem should be maintained without chemicals as any fine gem and use two drops (not squirts)a couple of drops of a mild dishwashing liquid in a quart of water and rinse well in water. Be careful outdoors, around drains and floor A/C vents they may bounce or slide when dropped. Dry thoroughly but don't try to polish the gem with a perfectly clean cloth (never exposed to chemicals) made for optical use to wipe after rinsing in tepid water. This is standard procedure for cleaning NEARLY all gemstones.
Clarity - Internally Flawless, (As Clean as a gem gets, top clarity, no inclusions possibly visible to naked eye or even at 50X magnification.) Watch the rotation of light inside the gem within the indoor video, shown in white GIA approved lighting.
Brilliance - The highest level of dispersion and brilliance I have ever seen in a spinel. (see second video for sunlight reaction, the first video displays the highest quality), or in photo section in (white light, low light, shade and sunlight for ("Color Shift"). The dispersion of light outdoors is blinding and primary colors like green, blue, red, orange, yellow sparkle randomly in this gem when exposed to full sun on a clear day. The gem has such high brilliance, (like flawless diamonds,) it tends to blind an unfiltered lens, so it is nearly impossible to photograph outside but the light show is unexpected and astounding. This is a gem that will exceed the quality "in person," and no photograph has yet to capture the rare light and blinding flash and sparkle of this unicorn.
Rarity - Extremely Rare Due to Origin of Luc Yen, Vietnam where the finest blue spinel in the world come from but they are generally very small. A top color blue can bring thousands of dollars for just 1/10th of a carat. Color shift, Rare color, Top Cut, rare color shift, rare Internally Flawless gem void of inclusions at over 50X magnification and Extremely rare "sparkle and flash outdoors," near or at 100% Brilliance. Placed in full or lower light it is equally incredible in color. These rare areas of sheer perfection in one stone was like winning the lottery. I have yet to see one anywhere that is natural not manmade come close to this gemstone. It is what we call a, "Unicorn," in the gem trade.
Origin - Vietnam, Luc Yen. The rarest and most desirable origin for spinel.
Notes - One of the rarest and most beautiful engagement quality spinel gems you will ever see. Performs beautifully in all lighting; both natural and artificial lighting. One minute it is the color of the finest Padparadscha sapphire then it can change from pinkish-orange to a vivid orangish Padparadscha pink (see photos).
